Lumpiang Shanghai (Fried Pork-Shrimp Spring Rolls)

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 lb. ground pork
  • 1/4 lb. shrimps, chopped
  • 1/4 cup singkamas (turnip), chopped finely
  • 1/4 cup carrots, chopped finely
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 3 tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • lumpia wrappers
  • oil, for frying

Sweet Sour Sauce

  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch dispersed in
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tsp. oil
(Cooking Measurements )

Cooking Procedures :

  1. Combine all the ingredients for lumpiafilling.  Wrap in lumpia wrapper in long, thin shapes.
  2. Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.  Drain in paper towel.  Cut into shorter lengths before serving.
  3. Prepare Sweet Sour Sauce:  Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and let it boil until thick.  Serve with lumpia (spring rolls).
